Welcome

In our courses, the focus is not on the result, but on the process of the students’ development and self-realisation, which we accompany them on.

Contemporary Cuban dance is a refined and codified language for an authentic expression of the whole range of human emotions and conflicts.

It seeks a connection with the earthly, with the human being, and with their passions. Through various techniques the body is freed, so that emotional resonances can find a form that is both stylised and pure.

All of our courses work as a kind of body laboratory, in which micro and macro are connected with each other. Through dance we connect with primal energies — the organic, the vegetal, the animal — and so gain access to authenticity and integrity. It is about each person becoming aware of their own innermost potential, drawing it out of themselves, and expressing their individuality.

We offer a dance process that allows the body to widen the focus of awareness onto something very natural in the dancer: intuition and anticipation.

The training technique of contemporary Cuban dance takes physical impulses from the pelvis and the upper body as its main method, and as the starting point for an organic movement through the whole body. The contrasts of relaxation and contraction create tension and resonance.

Breathing is essential in this technique: the contraction is done on the exhalation, and the relaxation on the inhalation. This movement travels through the entire spine, from the pelvis through the neck and the head. The torso acts as the central axis for the expansion of the body; movements of the arms and the legs are coherent and are consciously based on its impulses.

The conscious supply of oxygen to the whole body, the pushing of contrasts, a coordinated direction of the gaze, and the drawing out of the full potential lead to a strong sensual intensity.

In other words: Cuban dance is a holistic, sensual experience that will decisively enrich your life.
